Heaven's Vault

I gaze aloft to silent sky,
Upon a star in welkin high,
No earthly thoughts to cloud my mind,
Knowing not what I will find.

No messages from forth the night,
Just the glow of heaven's light,
Ensconsing me in calm not mortal,
Allowing me to pierce night's portal-

To sail across celestial seas,
Upon the breath of midnight's breeze,
I hear sweet song of Terpsichore,
From just ahead, in evermore.

But alas, the night must end,
And back to earth, I fear must wend.
No more to sail 'cross heaven's vault,
No more enswathed in night's exalt.
