Prolog: Death has accidently left open a door in the land of the dead. Cain has slipped out unnoticed and is visiting earth Cain climbed up to the surface in cold dark new Mexican night. The rising from the sand gave snakes cold fright. Thick dark hair in long dark curls hanging down across his shirt. His face was grim and his manner curt. A trucker stopped and offered a ride and Cain said yes, When Cain had come from the trucker could not guess. The truck driver jumped in shock at the sign on Cain’s face A tattooed scar in constant motion staying in the same place Twisting in motion sometimes bird sometimes snake, Radiating different colors: always new ones it would make The trucker was an old hand, but now shook with fear He said, “Let’s stop and have a beer.” They pulled up to a desert bar and calmly walked inside, Then the trucker ordered beer for his friend of fratricide. They took two stools at the bar and calmly looked around The patrons of the bar smelled fear, no one made a sound |
