chasing away darkness |

He sat down beside me so gentle and kind, laughter and sunshine came into my mind. He held me closely and deep down inside stirred an old memory I thought I could hide, memories of someone who once held me tight someone who chased away Darkness from night. So often I've feared, so often I've tried. Too often I've stumbled, too often I've cried. Yet when I think clearly it all seems so right. My mind is now restful, I accept the night. The reason is simple and timing is right, I found how to chase away Darkness with light. ~ This is an edited repost from August 2001, one of my first Pips posts. My muse has been sleeping lately. |

Kacy, I absolutely love this poem. Thank you for sharing it again for those of us who missed it years ago. Please, bring back more while your muse is missing. xoxoxo Alison |

Since you asked so nicely Thanks, dearest Alison. I wrote this while living on Chena Hot Springs Rd, just outside of Fairbanks. It was an 'imaginery friend' who sat with me on a night when I was feeling a bit blue. It was August 11, just one month before The Towers fell, and all the other disastrous events of 9/11/01. You won't believe how active the board was after that! Things flew down the page so fast if you got up from your PC to get a cup of tea, your post was already heading for page two. The poetic outpouring was mind boggling. I think that is when I first wrote one about My Rainbow Dancing Lights, the Aurora of Goodbyes. Maybe its time to repost that one....just before Sept 11. |

Wonderful! I learned early in life that I am only fully alive in darkness; no role playing, no costumes, no expectation to be met except my own. Be well. |

Kacy - Without the dark we cannot know the light and the other way around as well. To know each side of the coin is a gift although it sometimes doesn't seem like it. Really enjoyed this! Helen |

This resonates with me too, both literally (4 security lights in short while have given a problem of one type or another) and, of course, metaphorically. Your poem is very comforting. I particularly appreciate it right now, and am glad that it brought you comfort both then and now. Owl |

This had me in tears, Kacy for its heartache and honesty. I am glad that it brought a level of catharsis, though. Powerpunch prayers for your health and happiness. Owl |

Hello Kacy, I like the talk of the poem, its responses to the questionnings of the poet, your style has evolved during these years but talent keeps its way...thank you very much. yann |
