Lost everything I once loved, You became the sparkle in my eye, Little did I know you'd make me cry, The history behind such a story cannot contend, For the fabric of my soul to bend. I don't believe it I guess its true My daughter with curly brown hair, Bright brown eyes, Golden brown skin, Product of gangs, drugs, and everything to blend, Innocence surrounded by lies of a life of sin. I don't believe it I guess its true Your mother my best friend, Your father my cousin, The sunny side walk days not just a memory then, Real life, real talk, act hard, gangsta walk. I don't believe it I guess its true How you ran to hug me, a smile on your lips, How you called my name, drank your soda in sips, How you never cried, how you were you, How you'd cheer me up in ways no others could do. I don't believe it I guess its true Your mother and I sat on top of the roof, Banana nut muffin in one hand,Mountain Dew in the other, Pretending to be in those Disney shows, Those oh-so-fantastic-Disney-shows,then poof. I don't believe it I guess its true How the time went, so fast and cruel, Your mother losing her ways as she lost her days, She was pregnant, age of thirteen, He was a father, age of fifteen, She died, age of fourteen. I don't believe it I guess its true Favorite color was blue, I bought you a dress, Going to my girlfriends party, I'll teach you to dance, No magic in the air, no scent of romance, Just me and you baby, 'till the ends of the earth, Girlfriends come and go, this one went in a gust, I don't believe it I guess its true You couldn't breath, woke up all hours of the night, I can't sing a key, I sang you to sleep, Watched you with your eyes closed, oh so deep, "Three little birds... by your door step..." We had you. Only for a moment. Now the moments gone. Carried your mothers name. Your memory like a whispers song. I'll never forget that day. We laid you to rest. Moon so bright. Just for you. R.I.P. Just break my heart... And you know what I sang that same tune to my sister when she was in a coma. Singing sweet songs a melody pure and true...I'm wrecked now. Thank you for this share. You touched me. H |
