Drawn the Pen Land lover he'd no longer be Creaking planks under tender feet Depths of her beauty called his name A life no longer left the same Swift she was lead out to sea Seafaring boy destined to be Beauty of sails filled with the wind Bay and port again and again Walking the decks became the man Duties to sail came the command Storm and weather sun drenched his face riding the tide became his Grace Forward and aft composed the dreams Fluting the pipes of smoky steam Pitch the waves of rhythm and rhyme Port and the bay time after time Breast of blue skies and vast the stars Icebergs and rock brought about scars Stories of journey drew the pen Swift the tales he began to spin This was written for a poetry friend of mine a couple of years ago... |
