Travelers Demise |

I have stood upon beaches bleached and blue, with summer haze saturating my thoughts. At a bullfight I was moved to shout "Ole", the dust settling over man beasts cavorts. At the moon from the summit I wistfully reached, a childs reasoning my actions displaying. I watched water being drawn from an antique well, the drawers face etching lifes long paining. On Southern Lights fluoro ballet I mutely gazed, the magnetic master directing the dance. Upon the sea in little ships I did venture once, the sea and stars only spoke of romance. The jungle's emerald canopy cocooning with life, shows another face when her sun turns away. Small creatures turn monstrous and grotesque, leaving a fear only light will allay. Ancient valleys ruins left by man's hand, stand as a monument to humanities sorrow. That they did build and that they did pass, builds in me no faith in tomorrow. The travelers eyes have supped the world, but the voyeur is still incomplete. The commodity of time was used and had, the lasting memories bequeathed to the streets. From dust we came and upon dust we viewed, memories are the dust of our days. That dust does creep and memories form, our dreams when our souls want away. So farewell the traveler from this earth, their passing a statement of giving. For from their demise a life will gain, and experience the shortness of living. When I was a young girl I figured I had my whole life in front of me, seemingly endless. Never made sense of the fact that life is short, and what a precious gift it is. I thank you for this timely reminder and for sharing all you good thoughts here. |

Blue, thanks for the thoughts, the way I look at life is I have the same amount of time left in my life as I ever have...and that time is now, be it now today, now last week, now thirty years ago, the only thing I counted on was having now, it helps you forget tomorrow and if we live tomorrow today we loose now. But the pettance of a life time given to us does grate me, it will rob me of now's. |

I wonder how your Southern Lights compare to our Northern Lights. And I wonder if we don't enjoy the life around us if we will be smart enough to regret it when we are gone. I like your poem. Thank you for sharing it. Alison |

That's really interesting. I should just google both for images - but sometimes it is more fun to find out from another person. I am entranced. A |
