Dear Lonely Heart, Dear lonely heart, I hear you weep The pain of life is cold and deep Please know your sorrow is to be A step toward your eternity Dear Lord, my soul has little worth If I cannot upon this earth Withstand the pain that I possess And bear the weight of loneliness Dear soul, don’t ever shed a tear That rises from the depths of fear It’s more than pain that you possess But fear of pain that causes stress Oh no, dear Lord my pain is real A dagger’s pierce is what I feel It cuts me to the very core And leaves my tender spirit sore Dear child , your pain need not endure Shed all the fear and look once more Into the deepest wounds of life It is your hand that holds the knife Elizabeth Santos |

This is such a timely write for me. I recently have experienced the knife of one whom I had thought of as one of my dearest friends. She has shown me sides that I never thought were in her. I am gathering strength from the Lord and I will survive this and carry on. Life is not without its slings and arrows, but those who can grasp a bow and be strong, can shoot those arrows onward and upward. You are an exceptional poet with a very loving heart. God bless you. Elizabeth, this is the most beautiful poem about a lonely heart. When one does have a lonely heart, life does feel cold and deep. I guess there are those who do shed tears of loneliness. I don’t know that it changes anything by doing so. I have always enjoyed your beautiful poems. And, I always look for yours, each time I come into Pip. You have been my greatest inspiration, since I read your first poem. |

A truly introspective write, at least in my end, and I loved it. "it is your hand that holds the knife" So, so true. But we let other hands guide our own a lot of the time. Very much enjoyed this piece. |

Oh my...Liz...this Dear child , your pain need not endure Shed all the fear and look once more Into the deepest wounds of life It is your hand that holds the knife cuts just the way it should and gives to this poem the depth of a sigh. |
