Ive reached this point in my life where i pretend to be suprised how i turned out. My friends spent the last few years waiting to have freedom. Leaving the house every morning as a routine to sastify their parents and themselves. What happins when no one pushes a child out of bed ? What happins when there is no motivation, nothing to gain from a tiring routine. A pat on the back for a job well done, and a scold for punishment are lost in translation- they both sound the same- Non reactive expectation. parents consumed within their own lives, are they really parents? Children raise themselves everyday, some motivated by supportive friends. Others fall into misery as they are forced to live each moment. As i thought about this, i realized that i always knew i wouldnt be like my friends. They looked ahead and saw a few years of freedom. I didnt look, but if i had, i wouldve realized that nothing was going to be easy for me. I had pleanty of opportunities to change it, but i didnt look to see it was coming. I wanted to look at the moment, the emotions that consumed my life; I savored every moment as my last, and treated life as if the future didnt exist. Why was i so stupid? So many opportunities, and i didnt want to put any time towards my future. |

Ah, but hear this! As much as it pains me to know that there are children raising themselves (I really have seen it happen, and it terrifies me!), you have stumbled across a lesson that will change the lives of others! Keep it, hold it, be well with it..make peace with it or sommin'! Enjoyed the write (or vent) or write, which ever it was to you it was to me something of the same. |

No, I was expecting some Key Lime Sorbet! ![]() Trust me when I say, "It's never too late!" Time and again I have seen young people ~ and some not so young people ~ turn their lives around. Little steps add up and before they knew it they were taking giant strides into a new future. Don't beat yourself over the head. Think of what it is that you want out of life and then set a plan in motion. The more we put into life, the more we get out of it. We have to take responsibility for our own life and our own actions. If parents aren't there to support and guide ~ then it is a heckuvvalot more difficult. ~ BUT NOT impossible. Ofttimes in life, the more difficult the lessons ~ the more rewarding the outcome. The more pressure exerted on a lump of coal ~ the more brilliant the diamond. I hope I don't sound as though I'm standing on a soapbox. It's just that your words really struck a strident chord in my heart. Giving you a warm, compassionate hug, ![]() EA |
