artwork by Janet K. Brennan There are days when her heart so heavy it will not stay its place for the uneven beat. She wonders What is this life? Seshat, who laid awake counting stars. For on the fifth sparkle, a wish fulfilled, to know universal truths, what dream is that? Did not Pegasus want a pony, Patricio a jump in the hay? Dull, it is she who desires the secrets of heaven. A wish perfect, enlightenment, discovery, leaping from star to star, sprouting wings. Each day searching, perhaps a bump, an extra layer of skin should her wish come true. A wise man knows, how strange this world. Pegasus got the hay jump. Patricio got the pony. Wings never sprouted. And yet, as her hands mapped, her face lined, she knew she could jump from star to star, unlock the secrets of the Gods with a dash of the pen. The gift to the writer . Can it lighten an old writer’s heart, or fulfill Seshat’s wish? . Be sure... as writers and artists, we paint pictures from God! |

That was a great poem! That would be an awesome tattoo too She was one of my favorites in mythology, as she could be seen in many ways, just as every other woman today, has many facets, as did Seshat. Well done! |

Count the stars inside heaven, in how special a poem this is, in your Uni-Verse of verse. I will work on a poem and dedicate it to these women poets. [This message has been edited by D.Lester Young (07-27-2009 05:29 PM).] |

quote: Exquisite! And I so agree with your conclusion! Seshat is such a fascinating Goddess and you honor her beautifully with your poetic power of intuition. ... again your artwork is stunning! Your first words stick in my mind this evening Jan, and although I have to get up at 6 AM tomorrow (now it's 12:40 AM here), I sometimes just can't get myself off to bed. I haven't seen this one before, the words and artwork are so graceful and meaningful. Katriona |
