We stopped to sleep in the straight and common streets of Burns. I can’t forget this ordinary city, The summer is reassuring and warm, our motel room looks onto a swimming pool, our ideas listen to the sweetness of wind chimes, the journey pass so well and the time is on our side… To eat we found one small restaurant , I was hungry, for starter I ate one bananasplit, for main course one banana split, in dessert one banana split, the life is simple when we make what pleases us, I greet you people of Burns. I was happy to be there. |

Hello Yann, I love this very much. It has joyfulness and that sweet surrendering to what pleases us. Love the rhythm of it too. You did such a great job here, traveller! Wonder if you could still move with three banana splits to absorb?! If they were of the size they can be found in Switzerland, it would have been almost impossible, I fear. Love, Margherita |

Haha, between you with your banana split and James with his Bratwurst you are attempting at my dieting intentions, after all it's almost lunch time ... M |

Yann, though I lived in Oregon three years, that is the one area I never visited! You've given me a new 'must see' trip! I'll have to pass on those banana splits for the time being, but now I am hungry! LOL |

quote: Third time back in here, but this time (had lunch meanwhile) I'm able to skip the split and appreciate your fantastic quote of wisdom! That IS the secret, dear Yann! |

They know how to feed you in the Northwest, yann. I especially miss those great desserts. You are right, Burns is a nice, friendly little town. Ida |

Yann, most times, the ordinary is the most precious, the most beautiful and the most reassuring. I enjoyed your poem, but now I have joined the list craving a banana split! Smiles. Owl |

Oh, to indulge in sumptuous pleasures, is s-w-e-e-t, indeed! Mind you, the pleasure is augmented if one does not give in to the urge too often! Margherita's banana split pic has added to the craving that you have started! I enjoy reading your travelogs! Happy trails! Happy Eating! Linda |

Yo Yann, Those are all my banana splits. You leave them alone. Oregon is one of the few states I never worked in or visited. Bobby |

I agree with you Yann, up to a point, but I think that those simple sensations can belong to all ages (they did - and still do - to me) and I am happy more than just sometimes – not always, but almost always – sometimes in the middle of sorrow too. I think happiness is a choice, just like the choices in your exquisite “doors” poems. Yes, I agree that there is happiness in innocence, but I think there is infinitely more deep and lasting happiness in wisdom. Owl |
