"You sounded exactly like a robot when you said that." She said to me. Of course! What do you think I am? Do you honestly think that I am free to make my own choices? "Is is society?" They sometimes ask. Of course not! They have no hold on me. I couldn't give a rip what name or stereotype society give me to explain me. In my heart I know that I am beyond explaining. But I can't let them, my parents, know that I know this. So I become a robot. What do you think I am? My parents will never let me choose. They will never let me be free. I have no right to be myself, according to them. And then they complain, because people tell them I have no individuality. Well, what did they expect? When I never have the chance to show the real me, how can I find out who that is? "You sounded exactly like a robot." What else? What else could I learn to be? When I get in trouble if ever I do things my own way, I have to be a robot. I have to, to save my own skin; to save my own soul; to save anything that might possibly be left of the real me; The living, breathing, thinking, alive me. I've only ever learned to do everything like a robot. Every single action planned; careful; methodical... Mechanical. "You sounded exactly like a robot." Of course! What else could I learn to be when anything else is scorned. What else could I be? |
