Golden Raindrop

I saw the break of dawn today
Amid the cloud filled sky
I stopped to stare and look at it
The brightness hurt my eyes

And a piece of sun came floating
Like a glowing glassy stone
It dripped down yellow raindrops
And the raindrops fell alone

But I and I alone did go
And pick one for mankind
A gentle golden raindrop
Was in my hand and mine

But they won’t let me keep
My golden happy drop
They took it from my grasp
And then my heart did stop

And from the lack of rain drop
I died that very day
I wonder why it killed me
When the raindrop went away . . .
