My best friend is overweight and every day the boys in my class bully her, tell her she is useless or completely ignore her. This is for her and HersheyKiss and anyone who had been bullied for being different.

Glasses,
large red nerd specs perch on my nose.
they take up my entire face.
My face clear of pimples,
my body safe from cellulite.

You look like an owl,
they tease for a week.
I ignore their taunts,
I didn’t choose giant frames
for nothing.

a friend since toddler years,
is overweight.
they never notice her big brown eyes,
or her perfect golden hair.

i give her one week free from their words
that cut her like a thousand knives.
she is never accepted,
her jokes never laughed at.

a class of fifteen evil boys,
torture her every day,
for bad genes.

i sit and watch tears well in her eyes,
i stifle their giggles with glares,
and yet they continue
to torment my oldest friend.

I know how that's like.. Me and my friends are outcasts too. And the insults do end up getting to me. But those boys words don't mean anything because she has you. You are there for her. Who actually care for her. Your words are the only one she should care about. Those boys don't know much about her, only enough to pick on her, right?

Just some thoughts.

I hope you and your friend are pushing through.

This poem is so good. I know what it feels like to be tormented like that. I have been an out cast since kindergarten.

I suppose torment creates poets because bullies never seem to write any decent poetry.
