Wrote this months and months back, only just manned up enough to post it. C&C as welcome as ever. China It seems like such a long time ago That I wavered on the edge of bravery When silence sealed my lips tight shut And admission was my slavery Questions skirted and deftly flicked A shrug of shoulders, nod of head Avoidance was the game I played Torn apart, thread by thread I pictured you, white against white Eyes half moons, each sickly bruise A stamp of something lost Yet not enough to make the news I still wonder if you ever noticed The absence from your bedside I still wonder if you understood And if you knew I tried Regret is a gash within me That pulses, never wants to leave And my cowardice and my fear They will never let my grieve If I could go back, only just once I would kiss your paper skin And tell you about my day Every single, silly little thing It seems like such a long time ago That I clenched my teeth and shut my eyes And didn’t do that one haunting thing That now stops me saying my goodbye. |
