You have to save her!
You can’t leave her like that,
She’s sitting in the corner,
Crying herself to sleep.
What happened to ‘no man left behind’?
What happened to ‘don’t worry, kid, I’ll always be there’?
What happened to ‘I love you no matter what’?

She wishes you were there, you know.
She wants to here just how proud you are of her.
She wishes you would tell her just how much you love her.
She wants to see you cry as she graduates.
She wishes you would just hug her.
She just wants to see you.

Just once would you hug her and tell her that
‘Everything’s going to be alright’?
‘Cause right now she doesn’t believe in love
Or friendship
Or happiness
Or even herself
She doesn’t believe because of you
Why do you have so much sway over her?
It isn’t fair and she just doesn’t understand
She misses you
I hope you know how hard it is for her
To face the world without you
For other people to understand
Why she can only bring her mother to the
School plays
Parent teacher nights
Award ceremonies
Why you are never there
Never ever there
Even though you
Supposedly
Care about her
You
Apparently
Want to talk to her

Hey, just once
Stop
Thinking about yourself
And think about your daughter
‘cause she is one tear away from crying
And one breath away from dying

I taught and substitute teach now...and I see this everyday in many different schools, all different backgrounds and it, too, is heartbreaking!

It is sad to see that are but many...
I especially liked the last two lines-

This is lovely. I especially love the last two lines, the flow so well.
