I Finally Cried

I never got my one last kiss,
he slipped away before I could.
And now I know he'll never miss
my smile, my touch the way he should.

I never got my one last hug,
and now he's gone maybe for good.
I tried and failed the "brush off" shrug
and didn't cry, but knew I would.

I never got that final glance
that said that it would be alright.
I know I missed my only chance.
I loved, I failed, and now I've died.

Not once since then have I shed a tear
and the pain I've locked up deep inside.
The padlock broke; a flood of tears.
You found new love, my greatest fear
A years and two months and I've finally cried.

Nothing is more painful than realizing he meant everything to you, but you meant nothing to him. (Unknown)
