My Dearest Darling
I know that it’s hard
To say goodbye to someone
Who broke down your guard

I will not deny
That this breaks my heart
But I think this was coming
Right from the start

You were there for me
Through my hardest days
With no question asked
You’d wait out the haze.

And if you came calling
In need of a friend
I’d stand there before you
With a hand to extend

Fate threw us together
In our times of need
To pull each other up
So we could proceed

We were both at our lowest
Feeling hopeless and small
But we gave each other a gift
The greatest gift of all.

We both served our purpose
We did our deeds
Now we must learn
To meet our own needs

I will forever be thankful
For all that you gave me
But my dearest darling
We must now be set free.

Inside this exterior, over which the eye might have roved there was the record of a pulsing life, which had learnt too well for its years – Thomas Har
