Some are Family, Some are Friends Some I’ve known what seems like forever Some not long enough In contact repeatedly or seldom Always on my mind but not often taking the time Last minute reunions before they begin to fade Telling old stories to bring on laughter and mask the pain You look different now but don’t we all Funny how we always worry about losing our hair Yours left so quickly, now totally bare Why are they taken from me? You wonder if it happens because of the things you did I curse the one and the actions taken You strike a bargain to switch places Nothing changes because it’s written in the book Only the good die young Guess I’ll be here forever Could be a good thing Chances are it will be my curse |

An interesting read. I can sympathize with the hair loss stuff, whether genetic or due to disease or to wretched mistreatment... or whatever. The whole work smacks of grounding in experience, and it is actually good to read of melancholia filtered through such intelligence, especially as I can relate to the overall theme of unjust loss. |
