This poem caused a lot of furor in 99; let's try it again. I do not wish to dominate- Nor will I bow my knee And let some lass in heels and such Crack her whip at me. I have no vain illusions- That girls are second class- But when it comes to serving them I guess I'll have to pass. God did not take from Adam's foot A bone to make a bride- Nor did He take one from His head To rule with pomp and pride. The role of woman, friend, is plain Right from the very start- God took a rib, to show that she Was dear to Adam's heart. Not from the back to follow him- Nor out of view to hide- But an equal and a trusted mate, To walk close by his side. I know my place, and duties- And keep them this is true- I must inquire, dear ladies- Are you really sure you do? |
