The silence here The depths of which allow The wandering of thoughts Memories whistle through the trees Telling of lost things The only warmth Self made Crackling it flickers Threatening to vanish The darkness at its edges beckons It promises nothing There’s something tempting in that The depth of which breeds caution The fear of wandering too far Memories howl too close Telling of pain The only comfort A shadow swaying and echoing It too flickers Standing beside you The light at its edge beckons It promises too much There’s something mesmerizing about it The remanence of flame The embers Telling of emotions Something best not felt the silence here is too vast I leave to walk ahead, only to be lost Even though I cannot see the end, I think it's alright I will leave on a journey at range, it's alright if i [This message has been edited by NormalitxButterfly (12-30-2020 01:35 PM).] |

This is provocative to me. The descriptions are intelligent. I'm especially intrigued by this part- "The only comfort A shadow swaying and echoing It too flickers Standing beside you The light at its edge beckons It promises too much There’s something mesmerizing about it The remanence of flame The embers Telling of emotions Something best not felt" Shadows are hardly comforting yet is adeptly made to appear so here. And considering the definition of remanence this may be a unique use of the word not seen before and aptly done. Last and best is the final line "The silence here is too vast" One cannot help but become immediately swallowed in it when uttered so poignantly and with such finality. I really appreciate how your mind puts these thoughts together and lays them out in such a way they can't be ignored. Great stuff. SG |
