apologies if the references are too obscure. (and "the artist..." is for you Susanofer) ------ once, she led away from a movie just seen, some flick pretending to be a caricature of life, but only served to show indifference to reality. she tugged my shirt, plying feet to follow toward the darkness of an alley. i, of course, was thinking "shortcut," though she was on a different track - one with fewer family values, if you really must know. this, the girl who hugs trees, as if she can wrestle a Dali-like impression from knurled bark and a few smoothly-crooned verses by The Artist Formerly Known As... makin' out in the dark, feet rustling through expired popcorn crates and fetid puddles of booze, desperation, and oddly grinning faces. awkward, wouldn't you think? but then, you've never seen the ocean rise to greet her knees, furl around the olive of her thighs with more ardor than a ninja for a knife. no, you have never felt the spray, as the mist formed around her (half-naked, but oh-so-delicious) like a halo of lust from the core of the Earth herself. being with her is religious... or at least spiritual. yeah, more that than the first - the thought of religion associated with the incarnation of pagan delight is laughable... but then, she always had a sense of humor mixed in with the sensuality of a sprite. wonder if she'd laugh now, well, if she were still alive, she might. who knows, maybe she still is laughing, deep beneath the ground and awash with ivy. guess the alley wasn't such a great idea after all, despite my new affinity for bats. and what my sweet Kissy, would you suppose was in my cd player this very moment "but then, you've never seen the ocean rise to greet her knees, furl around the olive of her thighs with more ardor than a ninja for a knife. no, you have never felt the spray, as the mist formed around her (half-naked, but oh-so-delicious) like a halo of lust from the core of the Earth herself." WOW Chris, GREAT write, I believe I have once met the girl you describe, for I think for most men we have encountered one like her. I loved the 1st 75% of your poem and it kind of trailed off, as perhaps your relation ship with her was? after the line Being with her is religious and then you start doubting and its gets a little garbled and self doubting. Keep writing perhaps youre just feeling things out. I doubt you are the cynic that is portrayed in those last lines. You'll work it out, Greart Write. Looking forward to more |

I really enjoyed this honest exploration of thoughts. Always enjoy poems that have wonderful use of sound as they roll off your mind's tongue. Indeed a pleasurable read! |

Not too obscure at all Chris. You painted just enough. Enjoyed... and good to read you again. Michael |

Has been awhile since I have been able to indulge in one of your works and definitely worth the endeavor to do so. You pulled me in slowly with the beginning and by the time I had finished I realized I had been captured to the moments completely and softly as if I were witnessing them myself. An excellent read and experience. |

She may have passed on, but you brought her back to life with your pensive, and highly descriptive writing. VERY well done! It was a pleasure reading your literary works again, Chris! :angerl: Linda |

HELLO Christopher It certainly is good to see your writing again. I have missed it. I am able to see everything in this one as if it is going on in front of me. I love it. take care "...buried way beneath the sheets |
