The Falling |

The Falling When the wind is still And the Earth falls silent, Drifting on the currents Of a daydream Is the only flight Of freedom. But the longing remains, The desire to take wing-- The surging release of energy, And liberty, Pulses through the limbs Creating a feathery stir In an imitation acted out, Untimely, By a bristling beating Of the astonished, quiet air Who complains of being bustled From her inert passivity, Throwing dust and leaves Into the sky In a fit Of discomfiture. It might be better to wait Until she stirs of her own volition, Lifting life willingly, Carrying spirits upward With eager hands. But oh, how she can rage When disquieted. A shade of deadly Fate Lurks ominously within her skirts Just on the edge of sensing, Daring breathe to exhale-- Even time stands reverently In the lingering pause. But a bold and wild aggression Overcomes the caution within-- Fueled by ages of instinct And the knowledge Of the smell Of the rushing wind. Nothing can withstand This boundless spring of energy, Nothing can stop The bold plunge into uncertainty. Nothing can dismay A leap of willing faith. Nothing that is, Except perhaps… Death. And why He chose here, Why now, Is beyond sane reckoning. Though, there is no greater protest To be spoken Than to be found by him In the act Of living free. But now eyes have closed, And the teeming, vibrant defiance Which once had fiercely driven Is as still As the surrounding air. The grimace in the face Of stricken loss Is found now On this masked visage, Frozen in the moment As thoughts race homeward To those Who should have followed after-- Alone now, cold in the nest. Who will look after them For me? The answer does not come As breathe and time Make undignified desertion, And this body prepares To plummet From the highest heights Like a teardrop That falls to the ground Containing the dreams And the pain of The whole world. Very intense and masterfully woven. Appealed to me on many levels. My humor, begged to ask, "not a morning person"? but the artisan and carefully descript wordplay induced a feeling yearning. Very good! |

Thanks to you both. I rather wish, Diamond, that you had given in to your humorous side. I'm ready for a good laugh, heh. ·´~`·»Garapan«·´~`· |

Lady Grae, I was explaining to a fellow Pipper that I am merely a gifted amatuer and deserve no such praise. But it warms my heart to know you enjoyed this piece. It had my imagination and passion the moment I saw the picture. Thank you! ·´~`·»Garapan«·´~`· |

quote: Once, when I was on the point of fainting and feared being at the threshold to beyond, this was just my thought ... Another fine work, dear Garapan, I love the combination of picture and words. Both exquisite. Love, Margherita |

I read this over and over, and interpret it as falling from grace, as if it were inevitable. Your poem is deeply effective, so much so that the stillness in the air gave me chills. Me thinks you're going to have to get used to the idea that you are indeed a wise and extremely talented poet. I always look forward to reading you Garapan, and I'm so glad you're here. I was wondering what Garapan stands for? Curious minds want to know, you know. Happy day to you~ |

A fine job here dear poet. You have fallen into your groove. The only way out now is to dig on through to the other side. Or at least collapse trying. Let me know what it looks like when you get there. Rich |

Blues, Huan and Richy, I am blessed by your graciousness. Thank you. Blues, if you get back in here for a reply to your inquiry, Garapan is the town overlooking my homeland on Saipan in the Marianas Islands. I was born in the Marianas, but was raised in Hawaii, and am now in the States. My heart longs for home, so I remind myself of it with this name. ·´~`·»Garapan«·´~`· |
