Another Summer Another summer plunging with the sun in the abyss of relentless time... So many summers have left thus, seemingly without trace: I watched them shimmer silently away, sadly wondering. It seems like yesterday I came out here to enjoy an early sun an early spring on rising waters a time full of promise. Now the river flows gently again, tamed waters moved by afternoon breezes; cooling under slanting light and tepid nights. Rains and winds and long dark nights are soon coming in the wake of the blaze of the last setting sun of summer. Yet, it is not the end: for what I came to learn, I strove to understand under the fleeting summer sun: There remains one trip on the river, one last launch, one final effort: to pass the point of no return crossing above the misty veil. I'll stand before an eternal sunrise: in awe, I'll remember every paddle stroke, life bordering, hemming, adorning, guiding my earthly path, I will give thanks. Beyond the abyss of time with no need to look back I'll remember you as one with one and enjoy my endless summer. |

Melancholic, but hopeful too. Very very beautiful. Love, Margherita |

I've no words to describe the impact of this, WW. Just know I'll be keeping this to read again and again no matter the season. |

I am especially fond of the following stanza ~ "It seems like yesterday I came out here to enjoy an early sun an early spring on rising waters a time full of promise." ~ and also "I'll stand before an eternal sunrise: in awe, I'll remember every paddle stroke, life bordering, hemming, adorning, guiding my earthly path, I will give thanks." ~ and also... I think you get the picture, WW! May your next summer be an "endless" one! EA |

"There remains on last trip on the river one last launch, one final effort to pass the point of no return crossing above the misty veil." I think you "get it" too, WW and thats why your poetry is a cut above. This is a keeper for me as well. Ida |

WONDERFUL images and lines here… such as: “…summer plunging with the sun in the abyss of relentless time”; “summers … shimmer(ing) silently away”; “crossing above the misty veil”; “…stand before an eternal sunrise”; and especially: “I came out here to enjoy an early sun… an early spring on rising waters a time full of promise.” A MOST fine ‘write’! Much long-sustained applause for this ‘penning’! |
