The thunder of drums resonating in heartbeats The strains of a flute pausing in midstream The lament of a violin holding all thought The laughter of the taut strings of a veena The soul took its first steps.
Notes floating in that rare beam of sunlight On a watery afternoon many monsoons ago The lyrics of long forgotten songs Embedded in my right ventricle The sounds of love and its yearnings Pervading every orifice The symphonies in nature A routine performance from dawn to dusk The soul found its rhythm
The storms lulled before they gathered up Then abated after a bubble of mayhem The rivers rose in torrent Then calmed after their lustful arrogance The earth splintered in pain Then sighed as life rushed to heal The soul reached a crescendo
A journey always to and fro Chaotic, inexplicable Answers not found Questions not known The search is on Adjusting, compromising, allowing The soul took a bow.
Can the performance be judged? The soul starts anew.

I think sometimes the soul remembers a little of the old melody. Maybe the performance is not judged but graded and passed to the next level.

thanks for your comment. i think you are right and that is what i did say...sorta. for whether the soul is judged or not it doesn't touch the soul...it moves on

Very beautiful, Anuradha! At the level of the soul we are perfect, but we tend to forget.

Anuradha,
Beautiful soul dancing. I recently have experienced the rage of the river and I see the beauty when the sun returns.

"The sounds of love and its yearnings Pervading every orifice The symphonies in nature A routine performance from dawn to dusk The soul found its rhythm"
this was my favorite part, but the entire poem was amazing one for the library for sure!

Courage in implied hesitation. The soul must dip its toe in each lifetime and no matter if it be boiling or chilling, jump in and swim the race. Every end has a new beginning locked inside.
I loved each piece of this. "The lyrics of long forgotten songs Embedded in my right ventricle The sounds of love and its yearnings Pervading every orifice"
What a wonderfully rich way of discribing life, Love, Longing, embracing each sense.
Absolutely brilliant!!! This one is going into my treasure chest.

You've made this dance come alive with wonderfully vivid imagery and sound effects!
