My big beautiful lump on the line of the sky Like a flea on a beast I crawled all over you. A tickle on your torso. My knackered old monster you were dead asleep dreaming those days spent working your land (so I climbed on your belly and ran up and down). Herds of woolly sheep couldn't wake my heap He shall not shove. I stretched myself out in your navel to share your view of the passing clouds. Vaporous mounds reflect you from above and trace the outline of me on your peak. Now I gaze at you from my window and speak -like a girl in love. |

Thankyou all for commenting. Hope - you were a long way from home! This is my favourite walk, from the "nick" at Sabden right across to the other side and down the ascent and over to Downham (where they filmed Whistle down the wind -with Hayley Mills!). Its one of the most peaceful places, aside from all the fellrunners lol. |

Janet, I loved this too and the delightful humour in it. You certainly have a perfect brush to paint the country side with. Again, my favourite line was the (woolly) sheep line, and not just because sheep are animals. They just seemed so perfect there. - Owl |
