Angleo want to know why Felix hates mosquitoes so much. Felix relates an experience he had while consulting at a chemical plant in the tropics. He was in the dispensary, talking to the doctor. One of the twelve or thirteen year-old child laborers at the plant is brought in. The kid was taken sick while digging a drainage ditch. The kid is shaking, sweating, and he looks scared. He has no idea why he feels so bad. The doctor begins working on the child at once. The doctor explains to Felix that the kid has malaria. It’s common in the area. The child will recover, but probably not completely. He very likely will be bothered off and on the rest of his life. That brings Sally’s father to mind. Her father had caught malaria when he ran away from home when he was a child. As an old man, Sally’s father still has spells. That was enough for Angelo, now Angelo hates mosquitoes too. Bobby |

Thanks dear Ida, That makes at least five of us that hate them. You, the little kid, Angelo, Sally's old man, and Felix(me). Bobby |

So many people died and still die from malaria, especially children. It is a tragedy, I bet Angelo and Felix hate those killers. Since we have so called Tiger mosquitos in Italy, which were imported from the East, summertime is fastidious to the extreme ... always itching! They bite during the day too! During the first years they were here, they attacked only the legs, up to the knees ... but they have learned quickly that there was more skin surface higher up too ... I so loved to read on the balcony till over midnight, now there is no chance even if I use deterrents ... How not detest them? I wish there were new non toxic means to cancel them! Good one, dear Bobby! Love, Margherita |

Thanks dear Margherita, Yes, Angelo and Felix hate them. We are fairly lucky here in the city, even though we live near the river. I think it's the lack of pools of stagnate water. The river flows fast past Philadelphia. I sit out in front of the house every night, and I haven’t been bitten this year. Of course, this far north is not malaria country. Bobby |

Tell ya the honest truth, I have never been bitten by one in my whole life!-- Everyone has a hard time believeing that, but it is true... I still don't like them. Bug spray doesn't even work. ARCTIC WIND |

Yo Artic Wind, That is hard to believe. You are a very lucky person. They must not like your blood. I'm glad that you were spared the misery. Bobby |

Hi Bobby, There is only one intellectual misquote in my house, guess why? Because it bites only me whenever it feels thirsty. I hate them too. Enjoyed. Prasad "Hardwork pays in the long run" |
