"This ol' town aint been the same since the day the locusts came." Take a walk down Main Street... I'll tell you what you'll find... empty display windows, Out of Business signs. "We heard the buzz", the old man said "It was just too overpowering !" "We were fools to think we had a chance of escaping the devouring." "There's been tales, before and since, of many towns in other places... brought down by the locusts... with their smiling yellow faces. *** |

My son confessed to me recently that he has a fear of locusts. I told him he was just afraid of anything that could eat more than he could. Loved this one--I'm a sucker for a last line punch, and you "got" me! <--smiling yellow face? *chuckle* <--much better! |

The yellow danger - die gelbe Gefahr, I remember the faces of people speaking of this many years ago. They frightened me ... Now this is a widely observed effect of globalisation. So many things are out of balance. Many changes represent great challenges, just like the aggressive species of locusts . You describe this very effectfully! In the end it all comes down to a better distribution of the worldwide resources ... and human resources too. Love, Margherita |

If I recall correctly, locusts have been a problem since biblical times. For some reason I really like this poem. It seems so real I can almost hear the buzzing. Ida |
