In A Heartbeat (9 O'Clock News) The carousel of my romantic fantasies has broken down another heart breaks free without a sound in this ugly little town where nothing seems real Soon as I get home, it's the 9 O'Clock News and I get more depressed the world's stepping on my blue suede shoes and I care less and less 'cause inside me, it's a mess where I feel right at home Ex-wives, don't say I told you so there's still a few miles left to go 'till I find the right love to fit right into in a heartbeat if I wanted to Rich are the tapestries I possess inside my heart in each and every song I confess I feel safe only in my art painting figment girls and tear 'em apart 'cause it never becomes real Vacant gazes, don't say what I'll never find I can't get these visions from my mind it takes the whole night through to transcribe and in a heartbeat I'd run right to her side 'Cause nothing's coming through for me that would be just right for me my soul's running on empty, crushing pain always pre-empts me and all that I have to say time to dive back into the fray of my empty canvas and unstrung guitar I wanna see just how far I can go 'till I need you again down dark alleys and dead ends back to begin back to beginning of the songs I sing Wrecked life, don't fall down on me there's still a world of love I've yet to see a feeling I will chase until the dawn painted blue to find me heart tangled and dying to get to you yeah dying to get next to you in my last heartbeat if I wanted to and there's nothing else I want to do than be there with you "How do the angels get to sleep, when the devil leaves the porchlight on?" -- Tom Waits, 'Mr. Siegal' |

"in each and every song I confess I feel safe only in my art" Zach, this rings true of artists in general, for no matter what format they express themselves in, the emotional triggers for creating are often similar. I enjoyed this song, for it has chords of truth throughout. |
