If you haven't read Part I yet, you can here: /pip/Forum106/HTML/002781.html And here's Part II: "The Dreamer" Part II With diligence divine the night still came And tortured him within its cruel game Yet differently from all the other times Another force appeared to make its claim To dreaming eyes, so full of pain and tears It seemed an ancient angel had appeared With beard of white and eyes of steely grey Assuaging all his agony and fear And from this ancient stranger glowed a light That pierced the shadows of the dreamer’s night And before it fled the darkness and the pain Replaced, instead, by warmth and comfort bright The man, still slumbering peacefully then asked: “How is it that this thing has come to pass? Are you an angel, sent from Heav’n above By God’s own hand to rescue me at last?” To be continued... AMdG "My candle burns at both ends; it will not last the night; but ah, my foes, and oh, my friends--it gives a lovely light!" -Edna St. Vincent Millay |
