Yet & Again “Haven’t you thrown that away, yet?” For though the paper is beginning to parch From lack of touch and loss of starch, No, I have not just yet Thrown away the beginnings of me.. As reality reels just too damned true, Still I hold to hope, and then, that too, That bit of me which held a dream No, I have not just yet Thrown away my beginnings, see… ~*~ Warm nights soft lights from stars above which I know little of Walking along the sand listening to the demand of seagulls overhead wanting to be fed Rocks, huge and terrifying heights defy the waves with all their might Blanket of blue lies overhead fringe of gray on horizon’s edge that looks so cold, and dead. Hours pass ~ dawn at last pink and blue as baby new wanders away from mother of old. Golden sand stretches along waves crashing a song. Somehow? I don’t belong. So I leave quiet behind me. Leaving a world of nature’s own to wander towards my distant home. © 1968 ~*~ I feel me as then, Long locks and frozen clocks Slender limbs and full of him, Way back when there was a then… He’s gone, a long time coming Full in circle now, Still, I crave the beach For somehow, someone feels the reach And no, I won’t throw My beginnings Out to sea. ~*~ (c) 5/2003 |

This is wonderful! Isn't it great to look back on earlier writings and nearly jump completely to that moment. So glad you saved this and shared it with us...whatever you do don't toss it away! When I started to write I hung on to everything...now I'm glad. I hope my youngest will do the same and can look back to see how he has grown as a writer over the years. I will show him this and maybe he will keep these early moments to treasure forever. |

heyyyyyyyyy....I was getting to this'n. (I found one of my old ones, written on a page of an old family encyclopedia...it sounded awfully like The Doors. Um, I dunno if that's bad for me or Jim Morrison. I was like...five? ) Interesting though, how you incorporated the old with the new. You made me regret the delete button (as well as all those old marble notebook fires) Well done, Sunshine! (er..no pun intended) |

Hmm.. Wonderful poetry. But me, I don't have any old ones. Just "older" ones. Like, a year and a half old. I hope it doesn't take me forever to get as good as this. ·´~`·»Garapan«·´~`· |

Fin-ally! I read this earlier today and fell in love with it, Ms Sunshine. Like all those pieces of papers and mementoes of times past, this is a keeper. Very much so. I worked my way up from the bottom tonight muttering .. where is that poem Sunshine wrote. I found it and am saving it. Alison |

A second read~~ wonderful. Made me think of my first poem ever for a young high school crush when moving away and then again my first poem as an adult that I have framed. M |

I enjoyed this, Sunshine. Sometimes I come across poems I wrote years ago and they either make me laugh or make me cry. Ida |
