I remember waking up,
On the day of your death,
I was there to witness it all,
Except the moment of your last breath,

I got up that morning,
Getting dressed for school,
I was in a hurry,
I didn't care to look like a fool,

I came into your room,
To say what was our last goodbye,
But when I looked at you,
You could barely breathe or sigh,

I shook Mom from her sleep with panic,
As I told her what was wrong,
She saw how much in pain you were,
Lasting like a never-ending song,

I had to go to school that day,
Just shook that off my mind,
I smiled and assured myself,
That you would be just fine,

As I came inside the house,
I looked and thought "Oh Lord..."
Your sister was sitting on the couch,
Momma by your door,

I looked around the living room, and said,
"Is Daddy ok?"
Tears flowed down Momma's eyes,
And I knew you passed away,

With a quick flash, my bag to the floor,
I ran but fell to my knees trying to get to you,
I saw how empty the bedroom was,
I just couldn't believe it was true,

I came to your funeral,
When my legs moved they felt like jelly,
When I saw you in your blue suit,
Butterflies ran through my belly,

It was my one last time to say my last goodbye,
To my dead kin,
Rest in peace,
My Daddy, Marcus Quinn

Holidays are so very hard, aren't they?

*hugs*

You've found a very good place to find comfort in friends and words. I think you'll find many who understand.

Welcome to Pip.

Welcome to Pip, dear Elizabeth.

Your first entry is deeply melancholic and really touches the heart. You have given voice to your sorrow in a beautiful way.

Love and comforting hugs.

What a special way to honor and remember your dad. Mine has been gone 8 years and I will never forget the day he died. Keep his memory close to you and soon the pain of loss will be replaced with the sweet thoughts of all the good times you had with him. I know it sounds like a cliche but it can happen.  Hugs.

Several of us have been in your very shoes,
but your own compassion for sharing such an
intimate loss is wonderful. Thank you for giving
your father to us for a brief moment.

Please, check your Email for a
Very Special Greeting.
