Young Bones in winter, when not in school, wandered the streets, very much alone. Bones remembers the railroad station, where he would go to get warm. He could use the men’s room to relieve himself, and no one ever told him to go away. Bobby |

In Alaska, we hung out at the Fred Meyer's grocery/dept store for hours, because they had a nice restroom, snack bar, and huge magazine section. We went there at -40F even if we didn't need to shop. And as long as the car would start and run, and I could find an electric plug-in that worked, Freddie's was an ok place to spend a frigid day. |

Thanks dear Kacy, I remember those electric plug-ins from up in Quebec. I enjoyed playing dodge-em on the road during snow storms. Love Bobby |

What I remember most about the cold is after a very long walk to school, and being half frozen when we got there, we then had to go through the thawing out process which meant sitting in the classroom and trying to keep your conposure while you were itching from head to toe, for about an hour. Poor Bones, being on the street in the cold has to be hard. Ida |

Thanks dear Ida, No, it wasn't bad for Bones. He was only in the street during the day when he didn't have to, or want to go to school. Yes, I remember thawing out. Bobby [This message has been edited by Robert E. Jordan (12-08-2008 10:47 PM).] |
