Thanks for beating me to black and blue, It made me physically strong, I wondered why you did that, can you give me a clue, Oh mom, please tell me, what have I done wrong. Thanks for shouting at me so loud, It made me mentally sound, I know about me you never felt proud, When I needed you the most, you were not around. Thanks for locking me up alone in a room, It made me fearless of the dark, Is this the way a child should be groomed? You never took me for a walk in the park. Thanks for you’re never ending criticism, It made me more tolerant, I can bravely face the world’s sarcasms, Towards me why were you always intolerant? Thanks for giving me more pain, It made me respect love, You did all this to me; in return what did you gain? No money can buy they say, it is mother’s love. I want no toys, no teddy bear, I want no pets, no flying dove, All I want is, for me you should care, No money can buy they say, it is mother’s love. Yo Prasad, Don't feel too bad. Most people got beat when they were kids. My Mom used a hickory switch. I still have the scars on my back. The poem is well done, except you misspelled "wrong" in the first strophe. Bobby |

Yes Bobby, I was the naughty one, I got trashed with anything that reaches the hand first. Thanks for correcting me, I’ve made the change. Prasad |

Dear Prasad, this hurts so much!! Getting tempered is all right, but when there is a total lack of tenderness compensating the harshness it can be quite traumatic. You have written about your experience in a very impressive way and you are even able to say "thank you", it is touching! Love and a motherly hug ... Margherita |

My dear Prasad, you have brought the motherly instincts in me and I want to wrap my loving arms around you. Pressure put upon a piece of coal turns it into a diamond. You, my friend, are a diamond! You and your wonderful writing are always brimming with grace. With lots of love and admiration, Linda |

You wrote it well Prasad and although it sounded a little harsh its evidently made you a very decent person. A lot of young people today would be a lot better behaved if they were guided with a little more discipline. Thanks for sharing. Lindsay |

Dear Margherita, as a kid I never understood why I went through all that, however today I understand them very well, I love my mom very much today and I vow her everything for what I am today. Thank you for your wonderful comments and the tender motherly hug. Thank you so much. "Hardwork pays in the long run" |

Hi Lindsay, I agree, it was a bit harsh however that treatment did make a good human, at least that’s what I think…however I will not suggest this treatment for every young kid growing around. (Can I say Please don’t try this at home, Please)… "Hardwork pays in the long run" |

I could never imagine doing such things to my daughter. There are other ways of correcting a child. Enjoyed your words here today. |
