Little Rain Little rain, little rain innocence on the wane she's silently sitting there pretty girl, you're my secret stair I take into another time and place where the nice guys win the race I run the boulevards for you to capture a feeling and a clue about the stormy horizons in your dark eyes guns blazin' off into the night Big heart, big smile wait around for awhile the party thins to a trickle pretty girl, the moon's a sickle and it just ain't romantic at all but you can bet that if you call I'll climb into your window bend with you like a willow you'll make it by somehow we'll chase a firefly down to the end of night Little rain and her dominion holds sway It's gonna rain all day chasin' the sun away but that's okay sometimes I just need it to be that way Thine as a dime dame in a fractured picture frame out poured little rain without her it hasn't been the same I've missed that normal feeling of insane her cold come and shake my body down rid me of all the dirt of this town I can't help but see the girl lost in her misty reverie little rain is the right fit for me Needle in the hay, just a little blue in grey but I like to feel this way make sure she's gonna stay she said it's okay Little rain she's stayin' up all day "How do the angels get to sleep, when the devil leaves the porchlight on?" -- Tom Waits, 'Mr. Siegal' |
