         Autumn Fading

A fog-laced fleet of stately
  elms
sails this ancient lake horizon...
(in final muted-rainbow splendor)
where grey-slate waters meet
  a pensive November sky
and soft-edge memories touch
  the somber soul,
of all that we have left behind
  forever...
on the edge of Winters past.

I can see this so very clearly. . . feel the shiver in the air . . . sense the inevitability of the imminent winter . . . hear the silence . . . I am enveloped by the beauty of it all . . . seeping into my bones . . .

Yo Secondhanddreampoet,

This is very descriptive.  Winter turns the page of another year.

This is a touching write on a very deep level, Bruce. I, too, can feel it in my bones.

I love Fall, welcome the starkness of November after all the leaves have dropped. It is a time to contemplate what Winter brings, and embrace the beauty inherent in  seasonal transitions.
No two Autumns or Winters are alike, even though similar. I've lived where Winter is mostly sunny and warm, and in the frozen arms of the Arctic circle. Each season is a gift I've learned to cherish.
Thank you, poet Bruce, for this beautiful poem, replete with imagery that reaches out and caresses this uplifted face.
