What is this thing we call emotion? Mysterious language of the soul A blinding, burning, boundless ocean That leaves us fast without control You cannot stem this endless tide The rise and fall, the hate and pride It swells with every lovers kiss Crests high with each new joy It burns brightly for the ones you miss Common sense soon destroyed Reason falls when facing hate This emotion does but desecrate Anger, fear, lust and distrust Dark as nights with shadowed moons Hard to resist and yet we must The call of their deceiving tune These emotions only bear us down In their lying grasp we slowly drown Happiness, faith and forgiveness Like newborn babes, do not beguile Instead by simple goodness bless Convey them with a heartfelt smile A single word could heal the pain And cleanse deeper than the purest rain So now the darkness is explored And the boundless ocean confined Into the shape of a two edged sword One side leaves only fear behind The other can heal broken lives It’s your choice alone which kind survives |
