Like all the tough guys in the hood,
Bones likes nothing more
than a good fight.

Wawa across the alley
is always happy
to accommodate him.

Wawa’s always good
for a clean one,
one with no blades,
black-jacks,
pipes
or brass knuckles

They go after it every day,
rolling around wrestling
in the grass,
or standing toe to toe,
slugging it out
on the playground.

It’s all in good clean fun,
and they do it every day
they’re not in school,
and every night after school.

Bloody noses
and black eyes
they don’t care
much about.

The fights the thing,
and if you don’t win today,
there’s always tomorrow.

Bobby

Thanks dear Ida,

Do you mean that can't be part of my second childhood?

Reminded me of a friend while I was in the Army in Germany...we called him Johnny Big Honk, a Georgia Country Boy that loved to fight...James

Thanks James,

Yes, there's a bunch of us around.  Bones is just a little guy though.

I'm pleased it brought good memories for you.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

This is another good one Bobby. You could write a book about Bones, maybe call it (Do the best you can Bones from Philly )  I bet it would be a best seller

reminds me of a boy I grew up with...he would always beat me or my brother up...until the day we decided to take him on together...sent him home crying and never got beat up again

Thanks Bill,

For the kind words on the Bones stories.  I think a lot of kids enjoy a good brawl.  The trouble is, if you do that when you get big, someone will get hurt, which of course is no good at all.

Bones will be my fifth book about growing up in Philly.  If you enjoy the stories, they are avaliable from Amazon and others.  look under books, and "Robert E. Jordan".

Thanks Steavenr,

Isn't that the way it is though.  It's good that Bones and Wawa were evenly matched, and they could take turns beating each other up.
