Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

I reached out to your reaching out
because you are my sister
Once, we were friends, sharing laughter
and voices alike on the phone.
And we fought and made up
as sisters so often do.
You once were my best friend.

Maybe too many years have gone by
with no shared voices that sound alike.
Maybe we will never recover the ease,
the laughter that spurted from our noses;
I’d like to think we can.
But maybe those times are too far gone.

I feel unsettled to, again, have you in my life.
I smile on the outside, but cry again on the inside.
It’s hard to forget how much I missed you
and how much we hurt each other.
Years of not calling, not knowing,
but always remembering you.
I missed your sense of adventure
and I missed our talks and trust.

I am reaching out to your reaching out
because you are my sister.
We share many tears and scars.
Yet, the hope was in our laughter
and in our twin voices over the phone.

The connection exists again and your words open a new chapter in your sister-love.

I love this very much, reaching out and responding is the right thing to do to regain serenity.

Beautifully sensitive write, dear Alison.

Love and hugs.

Dear Alison, Having just severed my relationship with my younger brother I find your words particularly touching.  Reaching out is the right thing to do until it no longer is.  I hope, however, that things work out between you and your sister.  I should imagine that it's a very much more meaningful relationship than that to a brother.  I don't have a sister so can only imagine.  My best to you.

Yo dear Alison,

You are very lucky to have a sister, or a brother.  I would have liked to have either; but no dice.

You've made me think of something, I've never written a story or a book where a brother or sister was mentioned.

Love Bobby

Oh Alison, that is such a heartfelt poignant
post and my heart goes out to you. Even if you have to eat humble pie make up with your sister and you will be forever thankful you did. Don't delay start today
for everyone is on your side. Love to you
dear friend.

I don't have a sister either and wish I did.
If this poem doesn't melt her heart I don't know what will. If it doesn't, just remember. I wouldn't mind having an adopted sister.

Bobby,

I am lucky.  I have three sisters and I had one brother.  My brother was the best big brother a person could have.  And my eldest sister is my best friend.
