Merry-Go-Round

Pretty carousel horses
Prance on dainty hooves
Their painted smiles
Content to go nowhere
While the blast of calliope
Insists I dance
Faster and faster
Just to stay in place

What a great poem, the reality of it all is enough to wear me out.

So nice to see you here this morning.
Hugs, suthern gal~

It is quite interesting and beautiful, I love carrousels and took a magnificent picture (to my opinion) of a kid on a wooden horse some 19 years ago...Alas on paper.

thank you for the poem.

Maybe that is what they meant when they were talking about the circle of life.  I knew there had to be some music somewhere. Very much enjoyed the truth in this one.

occasionally, take a seat on one of them hosses, k?

(I always like the wild-eyed ones with the flared nostrils, but then, I would huh?)

This gem of a write is like a blast from the past ~ and yet it metaphorically speaks for my present...

Beautifully written, Ruth!

I've been wondering how you have been fairing after Gustav.

So good to read you again,
Sending a warm hug of love,
Linda

Blues: Thank you, sweet lady... and yes... worn out... that's me! *S*

2islander2: Your picture sounds great... even if paper doesn't preserve well. *S* Thank you for reading!

sewasham: And sometimes life throws a curve that makes it necessary to double your efforts, just to keep from falling off! *G* Thank you so much!

Bill: Thank you very much. *S* I'm glad you came over to my part of the carnival. *S*

steavenr: They've defined my life for the last 6 weeks. *S* Thank you so much for liking! *S*

Ma-ga: Wa-do! I'm so glad you enjoyed. The truth has been all too painful... finding the music has been finding my sanity through it all. *S*

serenity: Thank you! *S* My favorite is the giant cat, caught mid-leap... so I guess it's no surprise that I'm complimenting Colin when I call him a carousel cat. *S*  And yes... so weary... and still no real place to sit except on those hosses. *sigh* But...drumroll, please... the place I'll be sleeping in tonight is MINE, even if I am seriously out-numbered by cardboard boxes. *S* Six weeks have seemed like 10 years.

EA: It's funny you should say that for it was written in my past... but it's been my life for the past 6 weeks and will be for at least a while more. *S* Gustav did some damage at my sister's in Louisiana... 12 days later she had to stop her cleanup efforts to rush to my aid because Ike destroyed my apartment, a lot of my belongings and more than a few of my brain cells. *S* Thank you for the read, the hug and the love... all are appreciated! *S*

life does throw us curve balls doesn't it? what can we do? Just hold on tight and this too shall pass

I know those horses, Laura, oh yes and yes again! I may not know the one named Ike, thank goodness, but some of the rest of 'em, gotta dance with those beasties daily!

I love the light touch in this one, an almost playful tone at the start, that makes a most unplayful message stand out so strongly.
