This is the first of a 2 poem series called Dark vs Light. I haven't written the second piece yet but plan to in the near future. Darkness These days of longing and regret Are done for now, but never forget. Never forget the sorrow they’ve caused The pain and suffering we all must endure. Many can tell a tale of a time long ago Drinking away their sorrows and drowning in their tears. I’ve heard the stories and wondered why, “Why must man wander so far and stray from the path?” Strayed from a path of virtuous light I’ve landed in a forest of mystic proportions. Wandering into the deep, dark recesses of Humanity Where the vile creatures can pick at your soul. Too many years spent in this forest And all your aspirations are now a long, lost memory. There’s only so much the mind can take Before you’ve lost all power to control your Fate. Sinking further into this endless abyss, All signs of the Light have been eaten away. No longer caring where you’ve gone amiss, You fall further down into the Black Man’s grasp. Hearing whispers in the night Of all the dark deeds he begs to be done, Slowly, willingly, giving in to his serpent like hiss, The whispers in the night grow loud. At the bottom of the pit, There’s no where else to go The Serpent promises you great fortune, But with a Judas’ kiss. |
