          The Joy of Life

Every morning when I wake up
I quietly smile and thank the Lord,
For joy again has filled my cup
And I know my prayers are not ignored.

For the sun shines bright for me each day
Although I’m confined to a chair,
For my blessings are in a wide array
Shared by many other folks who care.

I think of all those other folk
Who are stricken with disease,
And all those ones who wear the yolk
As nurses, carers & folks of expertise.

There are many more with broken homes
And others too with broken hearts,
Folks who wilt and stare like gnomes
When sorrow shoots her poison darts.

Before you cry and then complain
Take stock of things that make you glad,
I think you’ll find few prob’s remain
And there’s little reason to be sad.

Yes, it is a lovely day once more
And I fly my flag unfurled,
I offer thanks for the open door
That leads me to the internet world.

Dear Lindsay, this is very poignant. To be aware of our blessings indeed brings joy, even if there are a few problems ...

I want to join your prayer of gratitude and be happy and serene. Thank you for this beautiful poem!

Love and joy.

Each of us is blessed, many times over.  Our
sadness need not blind us from that which we
have as gifts...

Oh, my dear Aussie friend, your grace-fullness is contagious!

You may be confined to a wheelchair, but your mind and heart are expansive and filled with love and appreciation! ~ and like you pointed out, the net (and your imagination) can take you wherever you'd like to go!

Who could help but have feelings of love for someone who could write a poem such as this?!?

Thanks Bill, It would be nice to meet you too but being on different sides of the

world does make it a little difficult. I appreciate your response. Take care my friend.

Yes the internet is a wonderful thing that allows me to read your poetry.  Some writers have that magic quality and you are one of them.
