calling a stanza a strophe
does not a poet make
nor even spelling
onomatopoeia a very proper Greek

trochaics, iambics, or dactyls
may ennumerate the page
coupled with pentas or tetras
metering the mind to assuage

and still the reader wants the work
to touch their inner soul
caring less about the rhyme schemes
that were taught so strict in school

alas, the poet truly strives
to captivate himself
while readers in multitudes
puts his work upon the shelf

so write a write that is not right
with critics of the know
just speak from poet's heart to reader's heart
and let it freely flow

I didn't go to school to learn what a stanza a strophe, trochaics, iambics, or dactyls are.  I have no idea what they mean.  I do know when I read something, if it is poetry, poetic, or pros.  (I think) or if I like it.
I really enjoyed this work.

Thanks! Tracey,(the Rookie)

The answer is always NO, Until the question is asked.

You are so right , Steavenr. I think poets are born not made. They can be improved but they either have a poet's soul or they don't.
