Lost Dreams

Your Grandma's feeling sad today.
You may have seen her cry.
Someone is gone forever
Whom she'd hoped would never die.

She's remembering the long ago
When she was just a girl
And his piercing blue eyes from the screen
Could set her heart awhirl.

He is gone with all the others
Who had played important part
In her dreams and silly fancies
Before Grandpa had her heart.

Richard and Kirk and Gregory
Burt and Rock, Jimmy and John.
Henry and Frank and Montgomery,
All of her idols gone.

Each had taken a little piece
Of a sweet and carefree time
When these heroes of the silver screen
Were hers for just a dime.

She's crying for Joanne and Paul
And just a little for herself
As she plucks the salad dressing
Bearing his face from the shelf.

Thank you, dear Joyce, for remembering Paul Newman with such a heartfelt poem. When I read your title I felt it was for him. I am going to watch one of his movies "Somebody up there likes me" right now with my husband.

Beautiful tribute and sweet memories and thoughts of compassion. May he soar now up there while he returns Home.

Love,
Margherita

Wow. This is absolutely beautiful. Very well-written. I'm single, but a hopeless romantic and it's just deep.

Continue with you're poems, Joyce! ^^

Joyce,

I think he is one who touched all others.  He will remain timelessly wonderful, kind and sexy.  He has class like few have.  Thank you for this poem and for being the person that you are.  You touch me so often with your poetry.

Love,
Alison

Oh Joyce that is just so good. You brought back so many names that I remember from my younger days and what great actors they were

and Paul Newman was one of the very best.
Great poem Joyce, much enjoyed. Love

Lindsay
