Bones sleeps
with one eye open.

Yeah, I know
you’ve heard of that.

Did you ever try to do it.

You’ve gotta know
how it’s done.

It helps to have
good ears too.

You’ve gotta keep
those ears open
listen for anything strange,
such as silence in the street.

Or,
the ominous sound of footsteps,
coming up the stairs,
when they really shouldn’t.

I think a lot of people "sleep with one eye open." I certainly understand why Bones would.
