The chill trickles down, Not sure if it’s her tears or the rain falling from the clouds. She has no reason to feel pride, Not when there is so much to hide. Her footsteps crunch softly on the gravel, The sound shatters her peace of mind. Not running away, She honestly has so much to say. Her wants and needs seem worthless, Her voice gives way to countless dreams, Never to be achieved. Harsh reality doesn’t shock her anymore, Another sleepless night, Another slammed door. Everything to everyone, But to herself, She is absolutely no one. Her make up stays in place, Can’t see through the mask That is her smiling face. A glint of what is hidden beneath, Visible to only those that care enough to dig that deep, A select few that realize the truth. She’s playing a starring role, An actress in her life, Waiting for the final credits to roll, So she can quietly slip away, Give up the story line. She’s no happily ever after, Just a broken line in the end of one chapter Of everyone else’s book. |

We are all bit part players in our own life stories but some manage to achieve leading role status - and some become stars. What is the difference? Often in it is merely a matter of self belief. You have presented an interesting poem here but the ending is not always pre-destined; give it a try, you may even find a happy ending is just waiting to be disvcovered Do not go gentle into that good night. |

A sad poem but presented with harsh reality and beautiful images well blended. I understand completely the mood of the subject of the poem, but also concur with David's response. - Owl |
