I awoke to the sound of a rain crow weeping. But there was not a cloud up in the sky. Fate took his mate while he sat sleeping. He awoke to the sound of the Horned Owl's cry. He heard the terrible wings drawing near... closed his eyes and hummed his own Death Song When he felt there was nothing more to fear... He looked around and found that she was gone. *** |

Yo XOx Uriah xOX, This is a good poem. That's just the way it sometimes happens. Bobby |

What a sad story, Uriah. Nature is cruel sometimes. Reminds me of when I was little and my job was to wave a towel or something to chase the hawks away from the chickens. Ida |

Tears for the rain crow and his wife. Shutting my eyes tight in an attempt not to see and feel the anguish of her death. - Owl |

Oh, noooo, dear Larry. This tugs at my heartstrings, I can hardly bear it. Intense write. Reminds me of a song that made me cry for days, it is about a swordfish who loses his mate ... Animals do feel intensely, I have no doubt. Love, Margherita |
