I should have seen the signs, instead I turned a blind eye. I could have predicted that I was living a lie, but I went right along with my fantasy. We were happy, or maybe I was. Now my heart is beating fast, then slow, I faultlessly blame myself for where things didn't go. But the truth remains, I miss your arms around me, I remember our firsts, my first. I trusted you, you made me feel comfort that I'd never felt with anyone before. Memories flood my mind as I try to flush them out. I played pretend, now I feel the reality I avoided. I know now what I didn't see before, I thought you were everything I wanted, now I know you are one of the very things I was trying to avoid. You couldn't tell me to my face, Maybe because it was too hard for you to admit you had feelings too, honesty obviously doesn't come easily to you. It was short and sweet but it took it's toll, My happiness evaporated like ice on hot charcoal. I get it, what never really began is over. I screwed myself by living in the present, forgetting about the future. I truly hope it wasn't my fault, that you're feeling this, guilt, regret. I know you are. Now I sit here living with the truth, knowing that I will never be able to forget you, my first. |

As the saying goes, there is a first time for everything. Unfortunately the first love often meets a first broken heart. You put such thoughts into a way we can all share. Do not go gentle into that good night. |
