By morning’s shroud and moon's demise, by prearrangement this, A duel to be fought by two, The prize, a papered kiss. The swords switch on and off as in the hands of decadent men, A techno-war of time and byte Proves mightier than the pen. The odor of decay is such a premonition foul, a death served up upon demand, beneath the guise of cowl. And in the shadows wistful move the motes of will and won’t, who would if could and might if should, write life for those who don’t. In whisperings of things to come, a finite tale to tell, how some soul’s shake their wrappings, and some take veil too well. There are those who cheat at death this day And leave not but a ghost Of images horrific More than a mind can host. I weary of these battles, and the words that lay them bare; the killers of the spirit true, the cost of death not fair. Who reins the world of sex and gore Who live by tales told Who profits when the sun will rise by what is penned and sold. |

"...some soul’s shake their wrappings, and some take veil too well" I really like that line! Too bad the paper dollar=God to so many. A write to ponder. |

And in the shadows wistful move the motes of will and won’t, who would if could and might if should, write life for those who don’t. A very intriguing, very well written poem, dear Lynda. Somehow cryptic, but appealing to the wondering mind. Love, Margherita |

Lindsay... I don't have your gift of narrative so I tend to focus on issues and metaphors of nature. I'm glad you enjoyed it. with smiles Lynda |

"There are those who cheat at death this day And leave not but a ghost Of images horrific More than a mind can host." I've got to agree with you there! I enjoyed looking a little deeper when reading your poem. Thank you. Helen |
