the mate |

a female cardinal with mate grasped the garden fence long enough to rob me of sound and breath. frozen I cherished the seconds until their startled egress and then returned to my journal as my wife closed the gate. |

I am still "robbed of sound and breath/frozen" in the ecstasy of the moment, and don't want to "return to my journal". I know this moment often in my indigenous forest garden, but knowing it, enhances the ecstasy. Thank you for sparkling dewdrop. - Owl |

thanks for the comments everyone. I thought there was a certain irony how we are awed by life in nature but don't give enough attention to our loved ones. |
