. In search of quiet solitude I rose before the dawn And through a frost covered meadow I headed for Mam Tor Through fields of wild flowers Across a babbling mountain stream I walked for what seemed like hours Accompanied only by a Kestrels scream As I watched the sunrise Bathed in its welcoming rays I lay back & closed my eyes; Definitely one of my better days... . I could get lost in the tranquility of the photo ~ and of your words. A calming, peaceful respite, that I very much enjoyed. With love 'n a smile, Linda |

.I cannot take the credit for the pictures, I only took the walk. Linda, would that peaceful respite be from me? James, you got that right ! I imagine your wonderful island has lots of amazing places that you visit hand in hand with your Lady... Dixie, Walking barefoot across the hills with only nature & a lone Kestrel is a wonderful inspiration, I am very happy to be back,it felt like I was away for eternity… TD, it is even better than it looks & smells amazing after a light misty rain RDB, You say the nicest things, now I’m blushing ! Arctic, appreciate your comments my friend Mama M, for me early morning is the best time of day, I drove for 2 hours to get there & saw only 3 other vehicles and I was totally alone in during my walk. Apart from the Kestrel,I only saw a few wild rabbits …it was so idyllic… Bobby, the heather is still there, Felix would love to roll down them mossy hills….. . Ida, the country side is beautiful, sadly the weather too often is not...at least when we get a good day we appreciate it... John |

John, Thank you for taking us on a walk with you. I hope our jabbering didn't disturb your solitude - but you know how Pipsters are. We are like a flock of Magpies. Happy but oh so jabbery! Alison |

Excellent 'slice of life' and Nature 'write!' Although I am typically not fond of regular patterns of rhyme (vers libre addiction, I suppose?!)... here I especially like: "Through fields of wild flowers Across a babbling mountain stream I walked for what seemed like hours Accompanied only by a Kestrels scream" serious applause! |

John, Where is this? This is lovely and quite suprisingly descriptive & picturesque from you. Nicely brooding like the scenery you have described. Enjoyed... |

I was raised in the Northwest where it rains all the time but it is beautiful beyond words. I think it must be a trade-off. The quickest way to make someONE from Oregon or Washington mad is to complain about the rain. You will get the quick response of "We like they rain here." Ida |

John, Felix would love to roll around those places. You never know. Felix just might make it there someday. Who would have thought 60 years ago, that a street kid like me would ever have a chance to see such a beautiful place? Bobby |

Alison You can jabber away as much as you like, I never heard a thing, unless that was you impersonating the Kestrels cry? BTW, next time you tag along, please bring food! |

SHDP, Bruce.. You may have noticed I like to rhyme my stuff normally, here I was trying not to but the passage you quoted was just as it happened & I guess it just naturally rhymed, glad you liked it... |

Simon, it is here.... http://www.cressbrook.co.uk/visits/mamtor.php About 35 miles from me and depending on the time of day, between 50 minutes to 2 hours away. Thanks for the praise, yes I would agree, not like me at all, I hope to write more like this soon. Another place of interest close by is The Blue John Mines. http://www.cressbrook.co.uk/visits/bluejohn.php they have underground caverns that you can take a boat ride through but the roof is so low, you need to lay back in the boat in places. Rhiannon & I went last summer....We would love to go at xmas as they have a choir & concert in the largest cavern lit by candles... |

Ida, it must be something that is common to the north west of everywhere, it rains most of the time here too. I love the rain, jut wish it would only do it when I was in bed.... |

Bobby Anytime Felix wants to come visit, he has a place to stay & Rhiannon will roll down the hills with him, I’m serious, you both have an open invitation to come visit... |
